Peter Buckley (Program Manager)

Peter joined Southern Oregon Success in 2016 as he transitioned from his role as the State Representative for south Jackson County in the Oregon House of Representatives, where he served for six terms. His legislative tenure included 8 years as the House Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Ways & Means, the legislature’s budget writing committee. Prior to his tenure in the legislature, Peter worked for over 20 years as a writer, director, actor, producer and administrator in west coast regional theatre, including 5 years as the Artistic Director of the Ferndale Repertory Theatre and 6 years as the Director of the Dell’Arte School of Physical Theatre.

He began his work with Southern Oregon Success just as our collaboration was moving into a leadership role in our region’s efforts on ACEs (the Adverse Childhood Experiences study) and Resilience. Peter trained with ACE Interface to qualify as a presenter in the NEAR curriculum (Neurobiology, Epigenetics, ACEs and Resilience) and serves as both a trainer and the administrator for the Southern Oregon ACEs Training team. He became a Certified Master Trainer in the curriculum in 2017. Trainings continue to be offered by the team at no cost, and can be scheduled by emailing Peter at

As Program Manager, Peter’s role is to ensure that our collaboration moves forward with our Youth Development Work Group, our Systems of Care groups, and our cross-sector Executive and Steering Committees, as well as with our two Key Leader events each year.
